About My Photography
My love for photography began when I was a child. My dad took a college course in photography, and he would bring my mom, my brother, and me along on some of his assignments.
I also remember going to camera stores where I would dream about having my own camera someday. I didn’t have to wait too long because my parents bought a Kyocera/Yashica Samurai X3.0 camera for me. Though I’ve not used it in a long time, I still have this camera.
I think one of the reasons that I love photography so much is that none of it feels like work to me. You get to see things and people in ways that you wouldn’t have seen them otherwise. It’s quite a privilege to get to do this.
Fine-Art Photography
In many ways, fine-art photography has given me a sense of purpose. It brings me immense joy, and I’m sometimes overwhelmed by the sense of wonder I get when looking through the lens. When I took it up professionally (not all that long ago), I did so because I wanted to share this wonder.
I then began experimenting with the colors on my flower photographs, experimenting with a macro lens, and then I found a photo-editing program I liked. At some point I found it was all I wanted to do during my free time.
Over the past few years, I’ve built (and continue to build) three collections of fine-art photography (Abstract, Flora, and Landscape) that I am very proud of. If you like the photographs in these collections, please consider purchasing a print or two.
Portrait Photography
I feel a similar sense of wonder with portrait photography, and I feel it’s an art form as valid as any other.
I love when I get to help people feel beautiful, handsome, seen, or validated in some way, and I feel grateful when anyone trusts me to take their photos.
If you’re in need of portrait photography, be it professional, lifestyle, maternity, engagement, save-the-date, or senior photos, please consider me.
About My Writing
Nature, Philosophical, and Political Poetry
In my free time, I enjoy writing poetry and stories. Writing brings me a lot of joy, and I’m constantly thinking of stories and characters and settings. I have a small notebook and pen with me wherever I go because inspiration just happens anywhere, you know?
I think that one of the reasons I love it is because I feel like I disappear when I’m writing. I don’t know of a better way to say it except to say that I feel like a conduit.
Like photography, I’ve loved writing since I was a kid. I think it goes back to the time when I was given a small chalkboard. I would spend hours rhyming as many words as I could. I don’t have the chalkboard anymore, but it brings a smile to my face when I think about it.
